Dear MS319 - Maria Teresa Mirabal Families,
Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! We are looking forward to an exciting and successful school year. The first day of school is Thursday, September 10, 2026.
ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL - Our students enter through the large school yard closest to 167th and Jumel Place. We open our doors at 7:40am for breakfast and our school day begins at 8:10am sharp. All students are expected to be in school no later than 8:10am to get to their locker and begin class. Students who arrive late miss important class time and are a disruption to themselves and their peers. Students are dismissed through the school yard at 2:30pm daily. Let’s teach our students that arriving early is a life skill.
UNIFORM - Students are expected to be in uniform daily – no exceptions. If your family is experiencing any difficulty obtaining the uniform, please see our Parent Coordinator, Milca Zapata. We are here to support you.
PARENT PARTICIPATION - Partnering with families is crucial to promote a healthy transition to school both socially and emotionally. We recognize that students may be feeling anxious with the start of a new school year, and we will continue to place a strong emphasis on social-emotional learning while focusing on building the school community. We encourage families to stay connected and informed by following our home page www.MS319.org and through our Parent Coordinator Ms. Zapata – [email protected]. Please look out for our parent workshops and ways to volunteer.
CELL PHONE POLICY – we are a no cell phone school. Each morning, students will place their cell phones in a locked pouch (provided by the school). Pouches will be returned at the end of the day prior to dismissal. If you need to reach your child, please contact the school at 212-923-3827. Our students will have access to a phone in the Welcome Center if they need to reach their parents for any reason.
All students will receive a school polo shirt, gym uniform, and school sweatshirt and/or Fleece at no cost. Feel free to come on the day that is most convenient for you to pick up your child’s uniform. Uniforms will be distributed from our Welcome Center located on the second floor.
