Congratulations!
The MS319 Gaming Club had two top submissions for the 2024 Minecraft Education Battle of the Boroughs Challenge! The teams were:
Thamar Casimir of 702 and former student Yolenny Cruz of 605.
Diego Olmos of 804.
The selected student teams will compete live against other top borough teams at the Manhattan Borough Championships on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 9:00 AM. It will be held at the George Washington Educational Campus. The Manhattan team that wins will be invited to the citywide championship to compete against winners from the other boroughs. The Mayor and other NYC officials will preside over the final championship.
Thamar's team chose to create a Warming Center Community Center and Café where people can use to stay war and participate in community activities and have a hot meal when needed.
Diego chose to create a community food garden where it teaches people to grow and sell their own fresh food.
Teams will receive a build prompt and have 1 hour to research and plan their build design and then will have 30 minutes to build in a limited space in the competition world as competing schools do the same. Following the build 1 or 2 students will have 5 minutes to take judges on a walkthrough explaining their build design and how it fits the prompts that are scored according to the Round 2 Rubric. The winning design will move forward. This will be an exciting time for both Thamar and Diego but they are up the task!
Let's cheer them on!
